The "brave" young warriors of the Makah Indian nation in the State of Washington have killed a grey whale in the name of cultural revival of their impoverished community. The fact that a "traditional" motor boat towed their canoe close to the whale so that it could be harpooned, and they finished the whale with four "traditional high powered rifle shots" is conveniently ignored. It is a pity that some native Indians have had their forbears work for hundreds of years to remove the title "ignorant savages" and have returned to be "ignorant savages" with this senseless killing. What's next for their cultural revival, scalping, how about cannibalism? Let's have some thoughts from Americans.
