I am starting this thread to discuss a new technology called Ematter.
What is Ematter you ask?
biz.yahoo.com
fatbrain.com

In case that doesn't explain it well enough, let me put it in layman's terms. Anybody, and I mean anybody can now write down their thoughts, stories, ideas, autobiographies, trade secrets, works, etc... and can publish, market, and sell it to the general public (worldwide, mind you) with the help of fatbrain.com

This product from Fatbrain.com was officially launched on October 18, 1999. As of November 07, 1999, there are 3,494 publishings posted at the site, ranging from trading gurus telling their story, to short stories, to research manuals, etc..They are priced from 2 bucks to 3,000 bucks. ($3,000 is the most expensive one I've seen so far) How do I know how many there are? Here is what I have been doing to monitor the growth of Ematter to date. If you take this number...EB00003494, and put it in the search box, it will take you to document number 3494. If you wish to see how many are there at any given time, just change the numbers until you reach a screen that says the document is not available. I started doing this at around number 3115...just 5-6 days ago. There is probably an easier way, but that's all I've got for you at this time.

There are some that question the security, quality of material, and the financial potential of Ematter. Well, I am convinced that Ematter will revolutionize the publishing industry. I am also convinced that everyone in the world, at some time, will benefit from this new technology. After all, we all have something to say right? And somewhere out there, there are people that want to hear what you have to say. I am personally beginning work on something that I beleive may just bring me millions and millions of dollars in revenue, week after week, after week. (Shhh, mums the word though.) And if you know the terms that Fatbrain has set forth, you would know that they will be getting 1/2 of what I get. Am I worried about security? No, not really. You see, I realize that there will always be someone out there that will share what they have paid their hard-earned money for. But I also know that there are those that will buy my work, when they want it, rather than waiting on a friend to buy it and give it to them. Van Halen didn't stop recording just because a few folks were sharing their material. They still make money on their work. Oh, and Fatbrain does have something to address the issue. Well, so far, it makes it look a little harder to share the material.

Anyway, I see this as big. Real big. So now you know my opinion. I invite everyone to use this thread to discuss the potential of Ematter. I would like to hear your opinions. I would like you to think about putting your works up for sale at the site. I invite you to market your writings right here if you wish. I want to know what you have written, and what you have bought and read. This thread can be used for the review of works that you have purchased. We can vote on the craziest publications, the best publications, and just have a good time of it. Maybe we can even prosper from it together, who knows? Do not post copywritten materials here. I think it is illegal. Thanks for dropping in. This is my first thread.
