The original "T/FIF portfolio" was founded to defeat sector negativism and "biotechs go down in the summer"-like arrogance. When that objective was soundly in hand and as biotech was coming back to life, the "son of T/FIF" thread was launched. Mike and Dave volunteered to take the effort forward, and the "rally ride" was documented like no other, to my knowledge, has been documented. Thanks, Dave and Mike! Four portfolios are still being actively monitored. They are just plain kicking butt. I hope that their progress will be monitored here. I also hope that we'll have volunteers to take some new portfolios forward into this new era of sector liquidity. MZ, Larry, Marc, biowa and others who I have omitted..... as we pivoted into '99 on the recommendations of V1/Silverman/Suzman, it would be great to head into 2000 on the basis of your mid- to long-term picks. BTW.... please note that the "performers" for '98 also seem to have had great '99s. As always, we will focus on stock-picking. Some "new era" capitalizations are now backed by lotsa cash. Some are not. Portfolios that are rich in "shorts", where the science is questionable and cash is limiting, may provide exceptional return. Many know that biotech was being manipulated as a "pharm league". If this influx of liquidity continues, there is going to be a very quick and sharp reordering of business. It's therefore time to start a new thread. Stock picking for the new world of "big-science liquidity, big-science capitalization". We've talked about it, with great anticipation, in the BVF thread. It's here. Yahoooooooooooooooo! links to the porfolios that are actively monitored, 4/8/03: "2000"........... siliconinvestor.com "2001"........... siliconinvestor.com | ||||||||||||
