This thread is for interesting stories of real people chronicled on SI or elsewhere who made the mistake of "buying and holding" 'til financial death did them part.

I am a shorter. Not without help from some of the legends of the shorting world, have I made a fortune in the raging bull market of '99 through to the present era of the post new-economy crash.

This thread's journey of reflection is theraputic for me, nevertheless, for I, like many other shorters, was born out of the ashes of my former stock buying life. So I dedicate this thread with the parting salute, "There, but for the Grace of God, go I".
