PixTech Inc. NASDQ(PIXT) is currently the only company that sells Field-Emission Displays (FEDs) commerically. FEDs are a type of flat-panel display with TV-like brightness and color, wide viewing angles, temperature insensitivity and full-motion video.

PixTech currently makes five- and six-inch FEDs. Its Santa Clara facility is working on the development of Large-Screen FEDs in sizes from 20-inch to 40-inch diagonal... all only one inch thick! I've seen an engineering model, and it works. (The promise of large screen TVs that can be hung on the wall is just around the corner.)

On 9/18/96 PIXT signed a joint development contract with a "major" Japanese CRT manufacturer to demonstrate the feasibility of LS-FEDs.

Motorola is building a 250,000 ft FED fabrication facility in Tempe, Arizona. MOT and several other companys are PixTech licensees. The future may be bright for PIXT.

The company had an IPO a few months ago at $10/share. Recently, it has fallen below $5.00. Today's announcement should make this an attractive issue in the future because of the patents it holds. Lets start a thread on the PIXT, its competitors and the industry. Any interest?
