The E-Mini Pit
If you currently trade, or are interested in learning to trade, the CME E-Minis, this thread is for you. As opposed to just another market direction discussion thread, our focus here will be on providing a traders resource of specific information on the E-Minis, including discussions of brokers, trading platforms, order types, trading methodologies, money management techniques, futures-specific tax issues, etc. In addition, feel free to post your trades if you like, but please include your reasoning, so we can all learn. Links to charts, articles, seminars, and other message boards dealing with E-Minis or futures trading are encouraged. Also, please check this original post from time to time to see any new links we post here and to check out The Post of the Day, which will be selected from daily contributions to the board.

I agree it's best to trade with the trend but know someone who studied under a trader that by his nature was a stand in front of the freight train trader. I've been told until he himself adopted those same techniques he was only mariginally successful. By his own description of himself he's mainly a contra-trend trader now just like his mentor. I've lots of questions about how he manages that without losing his ask but he's extremely successful and a quite outspoken internet personality. I've had the good fortune to meet with him privately and in person just once and picked his brain for everything I could think of. He gave me a profitable system that I promptly threw out explaining later by email that I knew my strengths and weaknesses and it wasn't for me. Since then he's widely distributed that system for free over the net and it continues to be profitable. Even keeps a website with the status of all it's open positions. No, I'm not going to reveal his name or where to get the system but I'm sure lots of people can guess correctly anyway.
I've always admired him and modeled everything he's every discussed. I attribute my interest in strictly mechanical approaches and abhorance of discretionary trading to what I've learned following this mysterious unknown personality.
