Return to Strong Industry Groups - Strong Stocks

Strong Industry Groups - Strong Stocks.

Have you ever noticed that some stocks seem to start moving up, shoot up, and then move up more? Good news runs often runs in a series, so strong stocks stay strong for a period of months. Bad news often runs in a series too, making bottom fishing a risking activity.

In this thread we will look at strong industry groups and identify the strong stocks in those groups, looking for potential trades. These screens are made using Telescan Prosearch.

For strong industry groups, we focus on the top 15 groups with more emphasis on groups with high growth potential.

For strong stocks, we screen for strength during a few periods of time and eliminate stocks that have a number of insider sells, or lack enough volume.

We'll also post some potential trading opportunities we see in these stocks. We look at both the technical and fundamental aspects of a stock. Be sure and review the current news for items that may change the trend. Often, trading opportunities occur when the stock has had a minor correction. But, you want to avoid buying one where the correction is a change in the trend. One thing that helps is keeping up with the current news and earnings.

You are welcome to post stock ideas, however, please don't hype something that is a one-day-wonder, look for enough strength to demonstrate the stock is in an up trend.
