Return to Immunomedics (IMMU) - moderated

Welcome to the moderated Silicon Investor message board for Immunomedics. I established this forum because I'm desperate for a civil place to discuss IMMU and even have a bit of fun.

The goal is, that whether you're one of the "great silent majority" or a participant, you'll breathe a sigh of relief to observe and have a decent place for civil discourse of IMMU that doesn't allow flame wars.

Please understand that if the rules below seem, well, harsh, I'm reacting the nonsense on some of the open boards. For some years a we had a very nice board over on Yahoo, but eventually the noise overcame the signal to the point that I just gave up. More recently, the iVillage MB experienced the same thing. So this is yet another attempt to discuss this company. The difference here is that I can and will maintain civility.

So, here are the rules (subject to change).

> No personal attacks. Period. I'll banish posters in a heartbeat who engage in them. I may or may not issue warnings. If you think you're joking, please make it clear. Remember that written communication is NOT like face-to-face communications, and we can't see your expression. Use the various short-hands to make it plain you're joking. Like <G> or :) for grin, ;) for wink, :( for frown, etc. Here's a list of more emoticons than you'll ever want to know existed en.wikipedia.org <G>.

> I will quickly banish posters who ignore basic rules of civil discourse at my sole discretion. I can change my mind and un-banish someone if I think I was too hasty. Hey, I have bad days too, and making an apology when I err is not beneath my dignity....

> While it should be obvious, I'll state it anyway. In my opinion, this is not a free speech issue. Your right to free speech does not imply that I have an obligation to listen. On this board, I don't have to. It's like being at Grandma's, "I don't care what the rules are at home, in this house you follow my rules".

> Another obvious thing. I'm not at all interested in squelching opposing viewpoints. I very much value them. Feel free to disagree with someone all you want. Just do it in a civil fashion. And please back up your opinion with a fact or two if possible. Feelings and intuition are important, but facts are more important.

> I'm not interested in reading about hidden motives. First of all, statements like "you must be a paid basher", or "you are just a manipulator" are completely unprovable, so why waste the time?. Second, I have a hard time believing that posts on a forum like this move any stock anywhere. Third, this is a subset of "no personal attacks".

> If you're not willing to abide by these rules, think I'm a petty tyrant on a power trip, or have real problems being civil, I invite you to avail yourself of one of the many other forums. I'll try to enforce these policies with as light a hand as possible, but understand that I will enforce them.

Q: Why not use the existing SI IMMU board?
A: Because of the recent iVillage experience. It took a grand total of a week for the tone of that board to descend to the gutter, and I assume that the same thing will happen on the unmoderated SI board. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm also frustrated.

Again, let me emphasize that much of the tone of this introduction is a result of recent experiences on open forums. It may be completely over the top, and it may be that I re-write this intro later if it proves to be so. I'll ask you to give this forum a chance and see if you like it.

I'm looking forward to the discussion.
