This is an actively moderated Nokia discussion board, not a chat room. It is neither a Nokia Bull Board or a Nokia Bear Board. Overly positive or negative posts about Nokia (its partners or competitors) should be accompanied by justification. The board's primary focus is Nokia, but respectful and civil discussion of Nokia's enabling strategic partners such as Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Broadcom as well as direct competitors who either manufacturer mobile devices or mobile wireless infrastructure is considered to be on topic. Cheerleading is discouraged as is discussion of one's own portfolio holdings, day to day share price movement, and blatant promotion of Nokia common. A little bit of those goes a long way. Disparaging remarks about or to other board contributors is strictly prohibited. For those that prefer to expand the discussion beyond this board's focus or outside the guidelines stated in this paragraph, the original unmoderated SI Nokia board (now moderated by SI) founded in 1996 is here ...

Headquartered in Espoo Finland with a major recently consolidated US facility in Silicon Valley, Nokia is one of the worlds largest multinational IT companies measured by revenue sales but no longer by market cap. Nokia focuses on high-speed data connections through advanced second, third, and 4th generation mobile wireless systems. Once the leading and most profitable manufacturer of smartphones and other handsets Nokia has been dethroned. Today Nokia is in recovery mode and has adopted a "challengers mindset." Traditionally Nokia's greatest strength was in the mobile device market, where it is still the world's 2nd largest seller of mobile devices, but the Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) JV is also one of the largest manufacturers of mobile wireless infrastructure and providers of network infrastructure services globally. Nokia is a broadly held company with listings on two major exchanges. In the US shares are traded on the NYSE as NOK ADSs. The Helsinki Exchange trading symbol for Nokia is NOK1V.HE and the majority of its daily share volume is traded there.
