Return to Virginia Tech Hokies

The first thing I want to bring up in the topic description is that all Va. Tech Sports may now be discussed here.

The central theme will always be the football team. Sorry lacross and baseball and fencing but football always pays your way, so be respectful of the big dog.

Now to football. The cries for Frank Beamers head have reverberated through the hallowed halls of Burress Hall to the Merriman Center to Lee Dorm. Are they justified?

Well I don't think the administration is taking them too seriously since the expansion to the coveted West Side stadium is progressing rapidly. What will the cost be fifty million or there abouts? Either they feel that Beamer's job is secure or that even if he was axed the attendance and the competitiveness of the football team will continue.

As if the talk about the defense has not reached a fever pitch and the loss of KJ to the Falcons? Green Bay? Bears ? has not been enough fodder for conversation it appears that 6 young individuals high on gin and vodka changed the tune for the message board for the year 2004. It appears that three football players went to see a girls basketball team in the Cassell and returned home with three Christiansburg female high school students. One thing led to another and soon the young ladies were stripping on the coffee table and dancing for three football players. Then hormones took over all the intelligence and logic that would require making 1160 on the SAT test and went south as Marcus Vick proceeded to entertain one of the young ladies in his bedroom. What happened there is going to be decided in a court of law, however many of the old guard are not very happy with circumstances and feel that the "crime" is only a symptom of more serious things wrong with discipline on our football team.

Other areas of interest are the red shirt freshmen and sophomores that will fill gaps on the defense this year: do we have a kicking game: how many games will Marcus Vick be suspended for in the 2004-2005 season: will Stiney be fired, apparently not, since the Cal games 49 points on offense may have saved him even if it was a loss: who will replace KJ? will it be HUUUUMMMMEEESSS especially since one of the players that was charged with delinquency to a minor i.e. Mike Imoh was a promising prospect to take KJ's place. and will some of the offensive players that were recruited be used without redshirting them.

Comments and more welcome.
