FREMONT GENERAL

History

1977 - FMT issues stock via an IPO

1959 - FMT starts writing workers compensation business in California

Current

FMT is getting hammered because it is writing sub-prime mortgages. I bet FMT survives. I will spell out my reasoning in my posts to this thread. Let's keep this thread alive.

FREMONT GENERAL DID NOT SURVIVE.
FMT was a victim of its policy of granting loans to shaky borrowers, and now is KAPUT. Another casualty of the sloppy, short-sighted, seedy financial industry of 2007-08. The remains are now called Signature Holdings. The 9% TOPRS bonds are still alive in a reincarnated form and paying interest.
