NOW, YOU TOO CAN BE A MARKET GURU!!!
Everyone is invited (no platypusses, aardvarks or sloths please) to participate in a market guru contest each and every month! This should be lots of fun and give you something to think about every day while watching your investments and trades...
The Legal Stuff (my boring lawyers insists on these clauses):
1) Post to me here on the open thread, no PM's please, whether you think the SP cash index (the symbol is SPX not SPY) will close the next day higher or lower... when you predict higher or lower, then you will also be either long or short from the previous close for your prediction day and a dollar profit or loss will be assigned to you for that day... there will be two leader boards, one just for predictions up or down and one for dollar winners... these are only make believe contest dollars, no real money is involved in this contest, sorry...
2) If the Index closes exactly unchanged that day, then no points or dollars are earned for that day.
3) All daily entries for the following day must be posted to me no later than midnight as time stamped by SI in your post...
4) Please post only directly to me, I don't want to hunt around for your daily entries, if your post is not directly to me it will not be counted for that day...
5) Begin each prediction post with the word PREDICTION in caps, and then say higher or up, lower or down, or unchanged... your prediction post might look like this: PREDICTION up, or PREDICTION down... just two words, nothing more, there is no need to explain, it makes no difference why... keep it simple...
6) You can change your prediction as often as you wish, just be sure your final prediction is posted BEFORE midnight that day...
7) For example, there were 22 market open days in September, you earn one point for each correct daily guess, so a perfect score would be a 22...
8) You must make your own predictions, you cannot just tailgate and say, "For tomorrow, I'll do whatever (another guru) does"...
Sorry, there are no cash prizes, but at the end of the month the winner will be awarded the esteemed title of "MARKET GURU OF THE MONTH," now isn't that something to aspire to...<g>
Good luck, I will also participate, but don't be swayed, my next day predictions are really terrible... I will tally the score each day and will post the leader board every morning so everyone can see where they are...
Remember, post your predictions no later than midnight each day before a market open day.
2X and 3X predictions:
You have available to you a choice of 2X and 3X predictions. You are allowed five of these X type predictions for the entire month so use them wisely. You can use them any time throughout the entire month, there are no restrictions on when they can be used.
A correct 2X prediction would move your leader board ranking up by two points instead of the usual one point. A correct 3X prediction would move your ranking up by three points. A wrong 2X prediction would lower your ranking by one point, a wrong 3X prediction would lower your ranking by two points.
If you make a 2X or 3X prediction and are correct, then your account would receive double or triple the credit for that day’s price move. If your prediction is wrong, then your account would be debited double or triple the price move for that day.
