A Political Free-For-All
This is stolen from the TTMAR header: NOTE: Thread is moderated but will not be autocratically run. If anybody has a problem they are asked to bring it to the moderator's attention. The moderator will then convene a group of not less than three nor more than five regular thread members who will assess the situation and decide whether the moderation power will be invoked. Those involved will be informed of the decision, and the process will be as public as it needs to be so that thread members can post knowing that the moderation power is not being used to snuff out unwanted points of view. That's something like what I originally had in mind, but there were a lack of vic.., er, volunteers.
Who would like to volunteer now for a panel the next time one is needed? PM me.
The way I envision this working is that if someone has a problem they believe requires moderation, they post to me or a delagate. I or the delegate then appoint a panel. Potential panel members who are biased or have a conflict of interest are expected to recuse themselves. If at least 3 panelists can be qualified, I will not be a member of the panel. The panel and the disputees then meet on the SMBR Annex: Subject 52957 The panel decides the matter and tells me it's verdict and desired action. I carry out the action.
One caveat: The current 3 bannees stay banned.
And I'd like to keep this in place: Those wars that have consumed Beanie Babies for so long? Keep them on Beanie Babies. Don't bring them here.
