Activision, probably still thought of as an Atari cartridge maker, has transformed itself dramatically.
The reason I first got interested in this company was because of a game called Mechwarrior. Several years ago, a friend of mine got me hooked on this game in which the player pilots a BattleMech... a giant robot armed to the teeth with various cool weapons. The graphics were pretty cool but definitely primitive by today's standards. When I learned the company was coming out with a sequel...well, I was psyched. That was a year ago and Mechwarrior 2 has become a best seller for Activision.
Why am I still interested in this company? Because management under Bobby Kotick, has consistently produced since then. They have come out with multiple titles, all of which are well done. To name a few...
Mechwarrior 2 Mechwarrior 2 Expansion pack: Ghost Bear's Legacy Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries Zork Nemesis...sequel to Return to Zork Spycraft: The Great Game Earthworm Jim Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure Shanghai: Great Moments Atari: Action Pack (a collection of old Atari favorites) Zork: The original Zork text adventure series
They are now coming out with...
Mechwarrior 2: Ported to the Apple for sale this July 2nd. Time Commando: Previewed by Computer Gaming World as another "potential hit" Hyperblade Muppet Treasure Island Several more...
I can testify that Mechwarrior 2 and Zork Nemesis are both incredibly awesome games.
Not only do they keep porting these games to different platforms, but they have been licensing out trade names like Spycraft and Zork to Hollywood to make movies out of them.
This is a good company that puts out great games. With the holiday season less than 6 months away, I think this company will do well.
Any thoughts?
