Old Breaking News (if you want the complete news click on link below because this is only part of the news)
January 2, 2001
Red Bell, already has over 420 shareholders, many of them athletes and television personalities. The company owns and operates brew pubs in event-based locations like the First Union Center and Veterans Stadium (in partnership with Aramark). It expects to open another brew pub in the Camden Riversharks new ball park this April, and is constructing another on the Pennsylvania State University campus in State College.
"We're developing additional properties at a rate of about two per year. ... In due time we will end up with 12 to 15 sites," Bell said.
Red Bell also brews beer for distribution to liquor store and bars at its 280,000 square-foot facility in the Brewerytown section of the city, where it also runs a brew pub.
Bell said that taking the company public places it in a good position to be acquired or to merge.
"We are at the point where starting brew pubs has become our focus. This makes us attractive for a larger beer company," Bell said. "I've spoken to some large beer companies that have an interest in Red Bell's approach."
