Return to RAMTRONIAN's Cache Inn

Welcome RAMBUSites!

Welcome to the INN of "D" RAMTRONIANS.

We like your spunk, and we absolutely loved the full court press you threw at those old flab Fabs and their smarmy old 66MHz cores. No doubt you got their moments of inertia in motion.

Why without the terror you guys spread throughout the Herd, a little DRAM design rancher like RAMTRON/EMS wouldn't have had a prayer of interesting these mega Fabs and OEMs in THE BEST ANTI LATENCY miracle chip known to mankind.

And for that we owe you, ...or INTC, a debt of gratitude. (Just don't expect us to give you 1 to 2% of sales. But "gratitude"? You got it baby! 8)

We know, we know. The Bus "owns" SDRAM and DDR too. Well <snicker>, we at the INN are hoping you can keep that "Myth" on life support for a couple more Quarters. We figure we need the Reign of Terror to continue unchecked until JEDEC can complete the Balloting for DDR2.

You see we happen to be in the DRAM IP business too. And based on some DARPA work done by the good folk at U. Michigan and U. Maryland, we have concluded that our IP is very much better than yours. ...But we have a teenie weeny problem with a friend of yours, you know that NEC/Hitachi fella?

You see they got a whiff of our EDRAM technology a while back and tried to do an end around us with this "VCM DRAM" of theirs. We worked out a reasonable settlement with them to set the record straight as to who owns what. But they still keep insisting that JEDEC needs to adopt their cache memory flavor as the Herd standard, instead of or in addition to ours. Can you imagine that!?

Now, thanks to those really smart guys and their DARPA sponsored analysis, we know our IP is also much better for the health of the Herd than this VCM pretender. But you know how it is with these Heavy Memory rockers. They have to scream out the tunes with their own band, even when its members are demonstrably out of time and in the wrong key. (...As if I had to explain that to you.)

We're just a little concerned that this "group" is so loud they'll make the Herd go deaf to the soulful sounds of our sexy Sustained Bandwidth and its superior beat. So we need you to hold on just a little longer.

We see you've got Samsung going on about 1600MHz buses and more to come. That's good. We can use that. And try another broadside of PR. That should be good for a few more Ballot votes.

But don't get too carried away by this QRSL stuff. Like MCA, EISA, and SyncLink found out before you, even a BIG BUS is just so much road kill when the irresistable force of the commodity Fab Herd desides to stampede.

Don't take this the wrong way. We feel your pain. DRAM design before its time? Been there done that. ...And if you think you're having share price problems, take a peak at our 3 year chart and you'll feel a lot better.

We know what you're going through. So hang in there just a little while longer and take it like a Big Bus - or come join us and find out what real memory design is all about.
