Overshoot — Energy cost, climate change, population growth, resource depletion and biosphere degradation are parallel trends on the rise.
Events of the last few decades are consistent:
- National and social disaggregation
- Climatic events and extreme weather
- Mass migrations
- Polarization
- Geopolitical stressors
- Dominance of capital with increasing socioeconomic disparity
- Current events cause no surprise. Worse is coming.
Negative synergy — Synergy is the creation of a whole greater than the simple sum of its parts. It is commonly assumed that synergy has a positive outcome. In reality synergy can apply to interactions that cause negative consequences, the result of which is greater than the sum of its parts. Thus, we have negative synergy.
