Welcome to the thread. As I'm sure you are all aware, on SI politics can often lead to unpleasantness. On this thread there are people from all over the political spectrum, and I'd like to make sure we can all remain here, and all remain calm...friendly, even. So, let's leave the political maifestos at the door. I know we're all attached to our politics, I know I am to mine- but it isn't the only thing I want to talk about. That doesn't mean we can't post an article about the politics of a director, or post a link to a political film- but it does mean there will be no arguing of politics on this thread, and especially, ESPECIALLY, no pejorative adjectives hurled at the left or the right, or people who are presumed to be left or right- in other words absolutely no name calling. It just doesn't make for a pleasant world. On this thread, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Trolls coming here just to stir up trouble, or those who come here to entertain their compatriots on other threads, will be reprimanded- but I would ask everyone here to decline from insulting them. My own preference is to simply ignore them. Without any attention paid to them they will doubtless return to the threads from whence they came. Their own behavior marks them for what they are- we have no need to comment further, once their behavior is exposed for what it is. There are threads for fighting- this will not be one of them.

Freedom of association- it's important. It gives us the right to associate with folks we find congenial. That's a good thing. Let me make this very very simple, if your posts are nice, you will be able to post here, if they are not, you won't. If you are nasty to me, here or elsewhere on SI, you won't be talking to me here. Let it go boys (and girls)- and leave me alone. If you've been nasty, that's why you can not post here. Freedom in America does not mean you have the freedom to trash people as much as you want AND you then have the right to force your company on the people you have trashed. It's sad for you, but there you are. Think about this going forward, and either be nicer to people, or understand that there are consequences to mean behavior. No matter how much you bitch, you can't MAKE people you've insulted and continuously belittled talk to you, or at least you can't make me do it, and I'm not sure why some of you try- but since you do, that's why this thread is moderated. So for those of you who are completely clueless and keep wondering about why you get banned here- think about it like this- Does this moderator like me? Have I been friendly and nice to her? If the answer to either of those questions is no, then you will be banned here. If you are incapable of figuring either of those questions out don't take a chance- don't post here.
