A thread for posting opinions of conservative Americans not getting on the Trump Train:

It's not intended that this thread be restricted to Contra Trump posters. Trump fans are welcome to make a reasoned case for their man if they can. They're telling us the same thing they told us about McCain and Romney: Message 30651273 ------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's not the conservative party." "I'm confidant I can unite much of it, some of it I don't want." Donald Trump (not the conservative party candidate). ----------------------------------------------------------------

"I know Hillary and I think she'd make a great president or vice-president.," Trump wrote. "Hillary is smart, tough and a very nice person, so is her husband. Bill Clinton was a great president. They are fine people. Hillary was roughed up by the media, and it was a tough campaign for her, but she's a great trooper. Her history is far from being over," he said.

AFTER the Benghazi lies had been busted, Liberal Democrat Donald praised Hillary as a GOOD Sec. of State:
In an interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News Trump predicted on Wednesday night that Hillary Clinton, a former presidential candidate, will take one more shot at winning the White House in 2016. Trump went on to say he declined to rule out the possibility of throwing his support behind Clinton for president in 2016.Trump commented “Hillary Clinton, I think, is a terrific woman. I am biased because I have known her for years. I live in New York, she lives in New York, and I’ve known her and her husband for years and I really like them both a lot.” Trump went on to offer praise for Clinton for being a hard worker and for having done a "good job" as Secretary of State in the Obama administration. He said he expects her to run for president in 2016.

He meant of the last four. Said it on MSNBC's Morning Joe.
Trump got Bill Clinton's advice before entering the Republican race. In 2015, Trump said Bill Clinton was his favorite of the last four Presidents. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/donald-trump-bill-clinton-favorite-president-119114
Trump is lying NOW about what he thinks of the Clintons in order to get Republicans to vote for him. If he didn't actually like them, he wouldn't have sought Bill's advice last year and he wouldn't have said all those wonderful things about them as recently as 4 years ago. He wouldn't have said just last year that Bill Clinton was his favorite of the last four Presidents.

Jimmy Carter and Robert Reich explain why a Trump victory is a defeat for conservatism:
"If I had a choice between Cruz and Trump, I think I would choose Trump," Carter said. "The reason is Trump has proven already that he's completely malleable. I don't think he has any fixed opinions that he would really go to the White House and fight for."
"On the other hand, Ted Cruz is not malleable. He has far right wing policies, in my opinion, that would be pursued aggressively if and when he might become president," Carter said. ............... "He's got good taste," Trump said of Carter. [ Liberal Donald donated to Carter in 1980. ]
Robert Reich: 1. Cruz is more fanatical. Sure, Trump is a bully and bigot, but he doesn’t hew to any sharp ideological line. Cruz is a fierce ideologue: He denies the existence of man-made climate change, rejects same-sex marriage, wants to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, believes the 2nd amendment guarantees everyone a right to guns. He doesn’t believe in a constitutional divide between church and state, favors the death penalty, rejects immigration reform, demands the repeal of Obamacare, and takes a strict “originalist” view of the meaning of the Constitution.
2. Cruz is a true believer. Trump has no firm principles except making money, getting attention, and gaining power. But Cruz has spent much of his life embracing radical right economic and political views.
3. Cruz is more disciplined and strategic. Trump is all over the place, often winging it, saying whatever pops into his mind. Cruz hews to a clear script and a carefully crafted strategy. He plays the long game (as he’s shown in Iowa).
4. Cruz is a loner who’s willing to destroy government institutions to get his way. Trump has spent his career using the federal government and making friends with big shots. Not Cruz. He has repeatedly led Republicans toward fiscal cliffs. In the Fall of 2013, his opposition to Obamacare led in a significant way to the shutdown of the federal government.
"If you nominate Donald Trump, then Hillary Clinton wins in November." Ted Cruz ---------------------------------------------------------
"You ought to see this guy" The essense of Trumpism:
Trump's mockery of the disabled reporter is really the essence of Trumpism. This illustrates why Trump is "good tv." And it shows why most people will never respect Donald Trump. But for the minority who are "Trump Lovers" as one of them put it here, this is WHY they love him. When I saw the picture of Serge Kovaleski it reminded me of a girl in my hometown who has post polio syndrome (not the same condition Kovaleski has). But she had a hand that looks like his, she had spastic movements, she walked awkwardly. And the Donnie Trump's made her life hell in high school. Looking back, I suspect most of those kids who mocked her have matured away from that by now. But liberals like Donnie Trump, especially spoiled rotten rich ones, they don't mature. They still do at 69 what they did at 14.
There you have the essence of Trumpism. Behold it's "glory."
BTW Trump was not "punching back" at Kovaleski. His beef was about something Kovaleski wrote 14 years before that had nothing to do with Trump. And it's another lie that he didn't know what Kovaleski looked like. They knew one another:
In November 2015, Donald Trump made the following remarks when alleging that Kovaleski was backing away from what he wrote in an article for the Washington Post a few days after the September 11 attacks:
"Now the poor guy, you ought to see this guy", Mr. Trump said, before jerking his arms around and holding his right hand at an angle. "'Ah, I don't know what I said! I don't remember!'" [5]The remarks became controversial over the question of whether Trump was mocking Kovalesky's physical condition, as Kovalesky has arthrogryposis, a congenital condition that involves contracture of the joints in his body and gives him a distinctive appearance. Trump later said that he could not have been mocking Kovalesky's disability [5] because he didn't know what Kovalesky looked like. However, to point out that Trump was lying, in subsequent interviews, Kovalesky said that he had been on a first-name basis with Trump, and had had perhaps a dozen face-to-face encounters with him, including interviews and press conferences, while reporting on Trump's career in the late 1980s.

A lying swindler who took suckers for $40 million. He wanted to monetize the fame his reality show gave him. I dare any Trump supporters to say they'd recommend Trump's get rich quick and easy scam for a child or other loved one. Not a single Trumper will say they would. But why not? If he's truthful, this would be a great course, well worth $35K. But even Trump supporters know inside he's a swindler:

Said he could make people millionaires in a year. Produced not one out of all the thousands who were suckered into giving the program he owned tens of thousands of their hard earned money. ---------------------------------------------
Voting for Trump is like stepping in dog sh*t. A lot of people say you have to step in Trump's pile because it's not as big and stinky as Hillary's. Other people just won't deliberately step in dog sh*t. And then there are people who think Trump's pile smells like Chanel No. 5. ------------------------------------------------- Thinking "Vote your conscience" is an attack on Trump is telling, isn't it?
------------------------------------------------If Trump was a smart man or if he wanted to win, he'd treat Cruz's speech as a virtual endorsement. After all, he refrained from saying a negative word about Trump and he asked people to vote in November. And to vote their conscience. Only people with a bad conscience about voting Trump could object to that.
But Trump isn't a smart man or he doesn't want to win. Take your pick. |
