BSD Medical is a long-time medical-device development company, with more than one FDA-approved product. They market world-wide and have more products officially accepted beyond the U.S. than in the U.S.
The main reasons for being interested in this company are 1) they are largely undiscovered and 2) they are finally having marketing success with an important new product (while also having other potentially major products). This is their MTX-180, an FDA-approved product that faces an established, and rapidly-growing, market: Interventional Oncology (IO). It has been given highly positive reports from leading doctors in the IO field.
I will be detailing the company, its products, and the markets. 31 Aug is their FY end, so a new 10K should be filed reasonably soon. I expect this to be exciting re the company's propects.
So, what is the basic nature of their products? Don't gasp or laugh!: Equipment and techniques for cancer therapy by microwave heating. (Stop that! I said don't gasp or laugh). The basic fact (tons of proof) is that (precise!!) heating is more effective AND safe than either hard-radiation or chemotherapy. The reasons for this are sound, but require some tech talk (later). As a "kicker", heating tumors while they are being treated by hard-rdiation or/and chemotherapy very-substantially potentiates these long-established therapies. So, the total market for BSD Medical's equipments (several) are impressively large -- and joint development efforts with both GE and Siemens are progressing. |
