From mid-March to nearly the end of July 2020, the price of silver rose 100 percent. The price of gold went up over 30 percent in the same time - traditionally the ratio is thought be around 5:1. Setting aside peripheral reasons for these moves, the larger part arises from the massive expansion of printing-press money and the artificial lowering of interest rates to stave off a universal and perhaps cataclysmic economic contraction.
For those who understand that this is causing the global economy to enter a gold and silver boom without precedent in world history, this message board is dedicated. Please feel free to share news items of related interest and personal thoughts/observations, particularly those related to gold and silver mining.
I ask only that postings about miners be limited to those companies that are primarily exploring for, developing, or mining gold and/or silver - not gold and/or silver as by-product metals.
As investors, of course, and with improving gold and silver prices, we gain more leverage with our investments by putting money into mining over that of bullion. Having said that, owning some bullion and coins makes for better insurance against a complete failure of the system, so coins too can be a matter of interest for this board (should anyone care).
Participation is welcome to all, novices and pros, as the seeking of knowledge should be accompanied by a willingness to share it too. Moreover, we sometimes learn more about our own reasoning when we try to explain it to others.
Traditional rules of civility will apply here, and off topic social exchanges will be allowed to some degree. Along the same lines, and as politics can not be separated from anything related to economics, please attempt to be as unbiased as possible, and be respectful if not tolerant of the the opinions of others. Though SI (Silicon Investor) handles complaints related to violations of terms of service, I can ban any poster at my discretion, but I can not remove posts. I will, however, make liberal use of my banning privileges should that become necessary to maintain decorum following fair warning.
Thank you for joining us here.
