Return to Iomega Humor

After posting a few humorous items on the "main" thread, I thought it might be good to have a humor thread. A place to go where we all can make jokes about IOM, ourselves and especially others. :)

The reason for this is threefold. First, it helps to keep the main thread on-topic. Second, it creates a forum where even the more shy among us can feel free to participate without being flamed for posting something irreverent. Third, and most important, it allows us loosen up and laugh, something we need to do to stay healthy in the pressure cooker environment of stock investing.

The Ground Rules:

1. It must be about Iomega or the posters in the IOM category . Well, OK, other stocks are permitted, but only if it's really good! Let other categories create their own humor threads. And do feel free to make jokes about me. KE is not off limits either.

2. It must be a genuine attempt at humor, not just a vile thought directed at someone or something. Retorts will be a natural part of this thread, but they should be funny, and preferably funnier than the joke that got your dander up.

3. Obscenity is not allowed. Use the #@!@# style instead, and never use even that to modify someone's name, except your own. I don't have to list the naughty words, we all know what they are. Use nothing stronger than "bitch/bastard", and only use them very sparingly, preferably in their verb forms.

4. Name calling contests are not allowed.

5. No Bigotry. Speech pattern parody is OK if: 1) the point of the joke is not to make fun of the group and 2) it is an essential component to the humor, e.g. without it, you would not know who was being parodied. These restrictions should be sufficient to prevent posts that contain thinly disguised bigotry .

I will start it off, and hopefully set the tone for the thread, by recreating three of my more recent posts. And you probably know which ones they are. Let me just say, there is some parodying of Oriental "pidgin" speech in one of them. I feel that it was OK because I believe the person I was parodying was pretending to be Oriental, and that was the point of the humor. It was not to make fun of anyone who doesn't speak or write standard English.

The line between real humor and just plain flaming can be hard to discern at times, so just before you press the submit button, if you have any doubts about whether you have crossed the line, ask yourself this (and I know it is corny) : Would I want my mother to know I wrote this? If the answer is "no", please don't post it.

My final thought: This is a place to improve your sense of humor. If you demonstrate a great one here, people may even forgive you your bad investment advice. :)

So without further ado, let's have some mega-fun.
