Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an emerging technology
which provides for the automatic identification of people, products,
and animals in a multitude of applications ranging from simple inventory
tracking to complex automatic toll collection systems.
RFID technology is superior to other forms of automatic identification
in that it permits the identification of objects moving at higher
speeds and at greater distances from the readers. It also does not
require line of sight, can read and track multiple objects and the
same time, and can operate in extrememly harsh environments.
