Beginning next year, the European Common Market will begin trading among themselves using a common currency while continuing to maintain a local currency. Companies will keep books using both currencies. Complications will arise in doing international business as companies will need to convert their local currencies to the Euro dollar and to the foreign currency. The problem is reported to be more complicated than the Y2K problem and therefore potentially much more lucrative.
