Return to Boxing: The Sweet Science

A forum for discussion of the sweet science, the sport of kings. The good, bad and ugly of the fighters and promoters; upcoming bouts; who's ducking & who got robbed; who'll put who on the canvas, and who won't; bouts we'd like to see, current events in the sport, and predictions - will all be discussed here.

The basic rules for fight predictions are as follows:

1. All predictions are for braggin' rights, a.k.a., fun. (This rule will not keep the arrogantly confident from from being chastised to tears in the face of extreme decimation of their fighter!)

2. You can change your prediction up to one hour (or so) before the bout starts;

3. Each prediction is "good" plus or minus one round. So a prediction of "Smith in the 5th," where Smith stops Jones in the 4th, 5th, or 6th, is on the mark; and,

5. Predictions can be of most any sort. Those carrying the most "weight," are those naming the fighter and the round ("Smith, 5th"). Next are those covering a range ("Smith, 4th-8th" or "Smith by the 7th"). Finally, those which merely name a fighter but do not specify the circumstances under which he...or she...wins ("Smith").

5. In the event that everyone is wrong, the closest to what happens wins (i.e., if the thread predictions range from Smith in the 5th, 6th, 10th, and 12th, and the fight is stopped by a NC in the 3rd, the poster predicting the 5th round KO wins).
