There has been talk of how we can make a tribute to our friend Edwarda. Shootie provides this latest update.
Last week one of my dearest friends died and I came apart at the seams. We would talk no more. We would laugh no more. No more jokes. No more steamy Beltane days. No more cooking...yes cooking discussions. I never got to say good-bye.
But, I have a great memory. I will remember her joking, her sultry approach to life, her ability to make my troubles seem a bit less troublesome. I'll remember how she treated everybody around her in this cybertown. I think I'll be a better man for having met this wonderful woman.
Monica was not born into wealth but was fortunate to attend a private Catholic school. She was bright enough to receive scholarships for attending college As we all found out, she was engulfed in Medieval studies. These studies, in my opinion, is where her personality developed......the personality that we grew to love. Yes, some of us loved her for her brains.......but we all loved her for her being able to connect the spice of life to the ordinary. These characteristics of her person is what we would like to focus upon in the effort to perpetuate to some degree, her memory.
I don't want anybody to forget Monica Timmons....aka.....Edwarda.
Neenny and I have begun a program to honor Monica's memory by starting the Monica Timmons Memorial Fund. Donations to the fund can be made to: The Monica Timmons Memorial Fund c/o Neenny and Shootie PO Box # 26 Wexford, PA 15090-0026
There have been no decisions made as to where the money will be spent. We both have talked and listened to a number of people that were close to Monica. We will get a consensus of those contributing as to where the money will be allocated. We have decided to approach this Memorial with these ideas in mind:
Monica loved what the Hunger site accomplished. I have discussed with SI the linking and perhaps partial funding of the Hunger site for one day each year. That day being her birthday, September 21. What would be ideal is those people who click on the Hunger site would see The Monica Timmons Memorial as a sponsor. Clicking on her tab would link to a page explaining why we chose to fund the Hunger Site. Another link would be to SI, directly leading to David's' Death of an Analyst while playing Addicted to Love. The link would also allow these people to tour SI and learn of Monica through our past posts while also allowing them to know Monica by way of her past public post. How exactly the web link would look would have to be worked on, and we could review it before the Hunger site uses it. the cost of this would run nearly $2,000 annually.
We think this would be good for SI and with a little luck, bring to us other personalities that, without SI, we would never know. We don't expect SI to contribute funds toward this but would obviously accept any help that was offered. SI Dave is to call me for a discussion.
Another possibility is a theatre group where she was on the board. The name of the theatre is the Blue Heron Theatre. Neocon is working on the theatre group and will need some time to gather further details.
Another possible plan is to provide a University such a Penn State with funds toward the implementation of their Medieval Gardens. It is believed that Monica would have truly enjoyed this as an adventure.
Yet, another possibility is a scholarship for a young student who might choose to study Medieval History or a student with aspirations of Wall Street. In either case, certain qualifications will need to be met......none of which have been discussed as yet. There is no doubt this would be difficult to hone into perfection, but we would certainly not be afraid to put forth the effort.
All of what I have presented is flexible and is dependent upon the amounts of money raised, and if there is to be on going contributions annually. Some of you who have contacted Neenny or myself have talked of perpetuation of monies from an account that would distribute interest only. This leads me to believe great things can be done. Perhaps not, but whatever is, is.
Presently, the only real accomplishment has been the setting up of a postal box for checks being mailed. Within two weeks we expect to be set up for wires directly to the account. (We are waiting for a tax id number for the account) This account will demand two signatures for withdrawing funds. Both Neenny and I will have sign to move money. The only reason we are on the account is due to the fact that we are motivated to do this and happen to live within two hours travel of each other.
Any suggestions to improve this arrangement is also welcome. This is the beginning of an adventure. A mission of love.
