I AM CHANGING THE FORMAT OF THIS THREAD
I am creating two fantasy portfolios... one with Canadian Stocks and one with American Stocks.
They are a fantasy in that no real money will be spent, though I will allot $100,000 in USD or CAD depending on the portfolio.
EVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO MAKE THESE PORTFOLIOS AS REAL AS POSSIBLE.
I will state my orders to buy or sell and state the time that they will be effective... usually in the previous day. The orders will look like this:
(say the date was July 5, 2019)
Effective the opening of trading day, July 6, 2019, a Buy order for 2000 shares of ABCD @ a limit price of $10.00/share.... the order is effective to July 10, 2019
If the stock opens at a price lower than or equal to $10.00/share, I will assume the order was completed at the opening price.
If the stock opens at a price higher than the bid price, nothing will happen unless either I amend the order and chase it (very rare) or the stock declines with time and falls equal to or below the bid price....then I would assume the purchase to be made and record it.
I am a long term trader... if there are dividends available I will collect them at the apporpriate time and add the money to the available money to buy shares.
If you look at earlier posts to this forum you will see I have done this before.... the difference here is I will have one portfolio for American and another for Canadian stocks so it should appeal to everyone. I will update the status of each portfolio every Friday evening.
I am open to questions on the TA I use...in fact I encourage it as long as it is in a respectful manner.
NO POLITICS Canadian or American tolerated...
I am open to suggestion as to stocks that could be added to one portfolio or the other. I may or may not accept the suggestion...it depends on MY evaluation of the proposed stock, however I will be completely transparent as to how I arrived at the decision... hopefully that will be instructive.
I love feedback...it is what drives me to improve what I do.
