TMSSequoia's New SpectrumFix(R) Software Technology Wins Top Industry Award
PR Newswire - May 03, 1999 15:23

STILLWATER, Okla., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- TMSSequoia (OTC Bulletin Board: TMSS) today announced Imaging and Document Management Magazine has given SpectrumFix(R) software the "Best of AIIM" award for AIIM '99 (Association for Information and Image Management), the international trade conference held recently in Atlanta. The award is given annually for products that demonstrate significant innovation and impact on the image and information management industry. It is a prestigious award as it is for largest trade show in the imaging industry (AIIM '99 drew over 40,000 attendees and booth personnel) and it is from the largest magazine that covers products in TMSSequoia's market.

"SpectrumFix(R) is a new software technology that can convert a color (or grayscale) scanned image into a superior black and white image. It greatly helps extracting text out of scans that have faint text, dark shading or require color drop out for OCR (Optical Character Recognition)," commented Dana Allen, TMSSequoia's CEO and President. "It created a lot of excitement at the show as customers and analysts saw many potential uses for it, including forms processing. SpectrumFix can open up new uses for both the millions of low-cost color scanners already out there and the new affordable high speed color production scanners that have come to market recently. We have been working on this technology since 1995, but this year, we made a breakthrough in speed and functionality. We expect to be able to ship product in late May. TMSSequoia will be, to the best of our knowledge, first to market with this type of software technology. We deeply appreciate this award from Imaging and Document Solutions Magazine. "

"To give a real world example of a use for SpectrumFix(R)," Allen explained. "On one form, there may be blue and red shading with black text, but the user requires just the black type. Yet on the next scanned image, an UPS carbon copy shipping slip with red and black guide text and faint light blue carbon text, the user only wants the blue carbon text. SpectrumFix includes SpectrumID, which recognizes color schemes on images, then automatically applies specialized color drop out and enhancement based on prior preferences the user has selected. It suppresses the shading in the first image by just extracting the black text as black. On the second image, SpectrumFix(R) turns the black and red text to white and the faint light blue carbon text to black, which is what the user needs. Our Web site www.tmssequoia.com shows this ability."

Allen concluded "The Best of AIIM" Award will aid our marketing and positioning of SpectrumFix. It will also provide additional exposure to those in the industry that could not attend the show."
