TMSSequoia Developing Powerful Image Viewing ActiveX Control for Microsoft's Internet
Explorer 3.0

PR Newswire, Tuesday, August 13, 1996 at 07:19

STILLWATER, Okla., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- TMSSequoia(TM) (NASDAQ:TMSS),
a leader in services and products for document imaging, forms processing,
CD-ROM and Intranet publishing, announced today it is developing an image
viewing ActiveX(TM) Control for Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer(TM) 3.0. The
ActiveX Control will be based upon TMSSequoia's popular ViewDirector(TM) API
developer toolkit and will be available in 16 and 32 bit versions for
Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT. Product rollout is expected
for fourth quarter 1996.
The ViewDirector ActiveX Control will provide the integration of image
viewing into Intranet/Internet applications and many other applications
requiring document imaging. High performance image viewing of TIFF and other
scanned documents is especially useful for corporate Intranets requiring the
fast display of engineering drawings and large volumes of multi-page documents
such as regulations and financial documents. A key feature in the viewer will
be image annotations with the ability to include text, lines, boxes and
circles on images. Another important feature will be ViewDirector's ability
to use images as embedded links to URLs, allowing users to easily navigate
other sites.
ViewDirector ActiveX will support fast display of multi-page bitonal, gray
scale and color images such as TIFF, GIF, JPEG and others. It will include a
powerful suite of features including scale to gray, color smoothing, pan,
zoom, rotate, mirror, flying magnifying glass, hand panning, copy to
clipboard, printing and more.
Rick Scanlan, TMSSequoia vice president of sales, stated, "TMSSequoia
strongly supports the growing number of Internet and Intranet users requiring
powerful document imaging engines. Our imaging products have proven effective
for thousands of users worldwide. We are proud to be a Microsoft Solution
Provider on the forefront of the latest technology for Intranets and the
Internet."
"We are excited that ViewDirector will be supporting Internet Explorer
3.0," said Tom Button, director of marketing for Microsoft's Internet Platform
and Tools Division. "ViewDirector joins the growing ranks of ActiveX
Controls available today for online developers who want to build engaging,
effective sites that give users the most dynamic experience possible."
TMSSequoia, founded in 1981 and based in Stillwater, Oklahoma designs,
develops and markets document capture, image enhancement, image viewing, forms
processing, CD-ROM and Intranet software tools and applications. A Microsoft
Solution Provider, TMSSequoia provides software engineering and document
conversion services including forms processing, OCR and scanning services to
corporations and government organizations worldwide to assist them in

migrating from paper to electronic information systems. Field sales offices
