Don't dismiss uranium. About a year-and-a-half ago one of the Barron's roundtable experts recommended Cameco; he said that there was a shortage in uranium at a time when certain countries, such as Japan, are still building reactors. That was roughly $35 ago. However, I don't minimize the problems in this industry; there are tons of environmental problems. Still, if one could find a good company that hasn't moved it would be a pretty good bet. But if you want a really obscure play look at tungsten; the world's supply is being used up rapidly, and I don't know if there is a good replacement filament for light bulbs.
