Thanks for all the interesting info! I had no idea Germany was so big
into ISDN. I've read about France being technologically advanced with
a nationwide fiber optic network in place and video phones already in
widespread use for things such as on-line dating.

Is there a market for video phones in Germany for people with ISDN
connections? If so, how are video phones sold (i.e in electronics stores
or by the telephone companies, or bundled with the purchase of a computer,
etc.)? Are video phones a consumer item or just for business use, right
now/in the future?

I've followed PictureTel for a couple years now, but haven't invested.
Intel is developing video phones with a different technology than
PictureTel's (as far as I know), so, at some point I think there will
be a battle for which technology becomes the standard.

Here, in the U.S., it seems like it will still be another two years
before video phones go mainstream (i.e. over a million sold in a year).
