In related news, the WSJ seems to have outed SI's famed "Mr. Pink". Was that good DD or an invasion of his privacy?

Are we agreed that statements on SI and related chat sites can influence the price of stocks? If so, shouldn't companies be vigilant as regards what is said on their threads? If they see misinformation that might unfairly influence investors, should they not attempt to "correct" it?

Actually, who is to say the company itself is not spinning things to put themselves in the best possible light? How does that help investors?

As regards the issue of privacy, I am strongly against any attempts to force internet chat sites to disclose to third parties the true identities of those on their sites using aliases. However, I do draw the line at threats of physical violence or any behavior that clearly violates the rights of others.
