Is "Cooking the Books" New? No, the pressure of meeting earnings expectations and making one's options more valuable has been going on a long time. In fact, even before options were granted. Insider trading was also huge a decade ago (or two or three).

Isn't it amazing how long it took to make this and others a big public issue? Imagine what else we'll find if we really look. Maybe everybody should at least go back and watch the Movies "Wall Street" and "Boiler Room", as a start.

I have a feeling that when the Market starts to recover, nearly everyone will forget about all this. Unfortunately money speaks volumes in this country. A healthy economy gets a president re-elected above all else. Just ask G Bush, who had a massively positive approval rating after the Mid-East war yet suffered from an suffering economy near the end of his term.

We won't even talk about politicians, though, that's a whole other "can of worms." However, at least with politicians we can throw them out of office every few years.

So when will the PPT team get really busy? Will they manipulate the Market UP? It'll be interesting to hear the "spins" coming up by the Media when it happens. The only question is "When", not "If". The pressure on politicians and their party "looking good" is getting more intense.
