As long as they are allowed to stay there, this war will never end. I think one might say iraq was necessary because there is no way to get al q so we needed to democratise the region to make quaeda irrelevent. So we get into a war in iraq to do that and it fails at great cost. (I know we disagree on that one) Whether we stay or not, al quaeda iraq may eventually leave there but as long as they have a sanctuary, they will be raring to go the next time and i fear next time will be in the US again. So we have to engage them in pakistan. The dems always use finishing the job in afganistan as a reason to be against iraq. But as usual they are being disingenous because the real battle is not in afganistan either---its in pakistan in areas we cant reach. Heres a scenario for you Hawk. Someone travels back in time to tell us that in two years there will be an attack on the US that originates in the tribal region. There is no way for us to intervene there with sufficient enough force to stop this from happening. Only nukes would do the trick. See where i am going with this. I think we are running out of time and that we need to find a way now to bring the fight to bin laden and particularly zawahiri. Fighting all the branches of al quaeda becomes a lot easier if the head is chopped off.
