Formatting Conventions

Dave,

I noticed that the conventions for formatting text have been changed on the Dev site from the regular site a la IHub conventions. If a poster used a capital I for italics and a capital B for bold on Silicon Investor as has been the convention here (although lower case also works), when the conversion is made old posts made by individuals that took the time to format text will not show proper formatting. Instead they will show the raw HTML tags.

Example here:

Message 20478706

dev.siliconinvestor.com

Is any thought being given to allowing either upper case and lower case for the tags, or at least the more common ones like Bold and Italic?

I might add that I compose in a text editor (TextPad) that uses prewritten macros to add the tags (select text to format, and hit a function key) and they use upper, not lower case. Works great here and on TMF.

On IHub I still use the macros but need to do a search and replace to substitute lower case for upper. Something of a PITB.

Best,

- Eric -
