Bob, Your "telephone pole" farm took me back a few decades. I was a representative of a large printing company and was the guest of Nekoosa and Consolidated Paper Companies paper mills in Nekoosa, WI. An education I will never forget. Part of that included a visit to a tree farm.
People who don't know about this, always want to talk about "save a tree" by cutting down paper waste, etc. These tree farms were absolutely remarkable! It was as if each tree came from a mold, as they were so nearly identical. This went on forever as we drove alongside. In this case, forever was a couple miles. When we passed the field of mature trees, ready for harvest, we came upon the next group, a bit smaller, as was each succeeding group, until we reached the next ready for harvest area.
Point being, this is controlled farming of a very valuable product. There is no irresponsible clear cutting of valuable forests going on here. I am impressed with your involvement with growing telephone poles. Just one more on your long list of worthy accomplishments. |
