I and a lot of my friends have families who live in Gujrat. Last sunday we had a superbowl party and collected around $12,000. $2000 was sent immediatley ober the phone for blankets to be distributed by a couple of the families and the balance was given to Jain Temple which promised to put 100% to work on the earthquake victims. They have sister orgs. in India and its just a phone call to start buying and distributing blankets, medicines and food.
I would only suggest that people make sure that the money they donate does not go into the general coffers of the agency but is strictly earmarked for the victims and it would be great if 100% went to work without any expenses for administration.
