Hi Sun,

thanks for that. I actually did look at exactly that article prior to replying to your earlier posts. The "novel" part is exactly where I see the problem. When thousands of doctors are claiming to have successfully treated patients around the world for Covid using ivermectin already, and there are many published studies to back that up, I guess I'm having a hard time seeing exactly how a patented dosage or form is going to work around that? As soon as it's common knowledge the active ingredient is indeed ivermectin, then the public uproar would begin that the patent was just a way to extract money and I suspect funding would then be demanded and found for generic ivermectin Phase III trials. Any pharma company realizes this with a drug with so much public domain info, which is why I suspect there are so many examples of repurposed drugs that are not patented.

Throughout this Covid crisis there have been many articles written about the benefits of using repurposed drugs, and one of the factors consistently mentioned is the low cost considerations for public distribution. If most of these repurposed drugs were being capitalized on in the manner you speak of, I don't think that would be the case. That's not to say it doesn't happen, as I'm aware of some cases where it has (I believe Viagra is a good example), but I don't believe in such cases the body of prior art existed either.
