Friday October 12 1:48 PM ET Alarm at State Dept After Suspicious Powder Found WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Emergency services were called to the State Department on Friday for the second time in three days when a suspicious white powder was found in a correspondence office, spokesman Richard Boucher said. ``We found another white powdery substance in a correspondence office and the FBI and the fire department and the hazardous materials unit have been called in,'' Boucher told a regular news conference. An announcement read out over the building's internal communications system said: ``The area of concern has been completely contained at this time.'' It added: ``There is no need for alarm.'' On Wednesday a white powder was found on the floor of a mail room on the State Department's 6th floor. Boucher said it was found to be an inert substance which posed no danger although further tests were still being undertaken. The scares came as Americans were on alert for possible biological or chemical attacks in reprisal for U.S. bombing raids in Afghanistan following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.
