Well the deal at American Express was nice while it lasted! Today when I went to place an order, I clicked on the little bulletin "Important Message ! Effective October 30th, our commission schedule will be changing. Click here to view the new schedule."

Be sure and read this message carefully. For those in the $100,000 or more category - NO free limit orders after 10/30/2000 and only 10 free market trades a month. For those in the $25,000 to $99,999 category - No free limit orders and up to 3 free buys a month.

But hey, it's still cheaper than Schwab for anyone with under 30 trades a month. Also I wanted to mention that AXP made good on the free trades when I used the backup phone service the day the web site was not taking orders.
