A lot has happened between September and November.

Both analyst firms that follow Mackie came out with downgrades from Buy to essentially "hold", after Mackie announced a slowdown in shipping new products, and a slowdown in the market over the summer. It seems the whole audio market dipped a bit in the summer.

Today Mackie is exhibiting at the Audio Engineering Society' annual trade show, in Los Angeles. They're demo-ing the new amps and speaker monitors, and they also announced a preview of a new gadget that works with digital audio workstations.

I figure the market will give Mackie three quarters -- 4th 96, 1st 97, and 2nd 97, to turn itself around and get back on track. If it doesn't by next June, well, we'll probably have to move this discussion over to the "Five Dollars and Under" forum...
