It is possible, although I think joining the states for any Canadian province is highly improbable. I'm sure they would become independent countries before that. The problem with Quebec's request to be considered a distinct society is that every Province in Canada is distinct. I've been to all of them and they are all different and wonderful in that sense. The East Coast provinces have a lot of French people who often do not share the same "separation" yearnings that the Quebec government wants. In New Brunswick, you can travel from town to town, and one will be French the other English separated by a few kilometres. They live in harmony. I believe like many things, the Quebec Government has their own agenda and to gain support they point out whatever they see to their citizens they "think" supports their ideas. Francophones pitted against Anglophones. Their differences are political and not necessarily reality based.
