I'd like to see the voting public better informed so that obvious problems will not be elected. The lion's share of these alleged high crimes and misdemeanors took place prior to the elections.
I think we should allow our elected officials to do what they were sent to do without being distracted by partisan grandstanding nonsense. For what should be obvious reasons, I do not think a sitting President should be tried for anything, save acts of serious treason or other capital offenses.
Every cell in my body rebels at the mere thought of the office of the special prosecutor. I am appalled that such an office was created and has continued for 20+ years.
Going back to Plan A, such as was in place for President Andrew Johnson's impeachment proceedings, could be no worse than what we have now and would surely be a darn sight less expensive to the taxpayers. Hopefully, we will never again see the likes of Tailgunner Joe and his inquisition. However, I think the lessons of his history and the instant availability of information would tend to mitigate against this. Unlike the IC, the Senate is, to a degree, self-limiting.
The success of whatever method depends, of course, on an informed public that demands substance and fact over showmanship.
