Tantalum Prices Skyrocket $40/Lb in the last 60 days
Dealer prices for scrap tantalum clips have jumped from an average of $75/lb in
February to $100-$115/Lb today. There is reportedly a shortage of ore caused by
increased consumption of tantalum capacitors used in cell phones. Several tantalum
buyers report there is simply no material around.

Is Ruthenium the next best gamble?
Prices have jumped from $40/oz a year ago to $105/oz today. One speculator we
interviewed believes that in two years Ruthenium will be valued between $300 and
$400/oz. Another predicted $140/oz soon. Ruthenium is being used in a new miniature
fuel cell that may replace traditional batteries. The new cell carries 10 times more
energy, weighs less, and is less expensive to purchase. The fuel cell uses a
catalyst which is a mixture of Ruthenium and Platinum to create a reaction that
provides the electrical current.

This should bode well for the AVL future.
