Simtek Subsidiary, Q-DOT, Awarded Two SBIR Contracts for Advanced Integrated Circuit Development COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - PRNewswire-FirstCall - Jan. 18
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Simtek Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: SRAM) , today announced that its subsidiary, Q-DOT, Incorporated, was awarded two Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contracts sponsored by the U.S. ARMY.
In the first contract Q-DOT will develop a low-noise, phase-locked, miniature oscillator (PL MINO) for use in advanced communications systems. The PL MINO circuitry will be realized in IBM's SiGe BiCMOS technology and is expected to achieve jitter of 7 femto-seconds, a dramatic advancement over state-of-the-art clock oscillators available today. The PL MINO is essential to advanced, hand-held digital communications hardware including advanced software-defined radios.
Under the second contract Q-DOT will develop a 4 x 4 X-band Active Microwave Switch Matrix using IBM's SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) technology to achieve switching times of less than 50 pico-seconds. The switch matrix is intended for use in missile seeker test systems and could offer significant performance enhancements in military radar and communication systems as well as commercial test instrumentation, waveform generation and data communications.
Each contract is valued at $730,000 over their two-year development periods.
