True Interactive Electronic Documents allows 3-D (three-dimensional) thinking and planning in their development versus the current 2-D (two-dimensional) process now done for paper documents. Interactive Electronic Documents can actually become applications within their framework of gathering and presenting information. They can utilize hyperlink Jump Steps allowing ease of movement through complex processes or they can contain POP-UP messages with instantaneous information relevant to the sentence or paragraph we are about to read and implement. They can also provide hyperlinks to references, like drawings, pictures, videos, or other documents that will reinforce the information we are asking them to absorb. They can utilize data links to move information from place to place within the document, or to perform automated calculations instantaneously, or to permanently store the information in the proper database and data table. This innate ability to move forward and backward, as well as in and out of the document will help individual employees improve quality and productivity in the performance of their daily activities.
