TMSSequoia Announces New Management Additions and Responsibilities

PR Newswire - March 04, 1999 14:17

STILLWATER, Okla., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- TMSSequoia(TM) (OTC Bulletin Board: TMSS) today announced the addition of two new executives and new responsibilities for several of its existing senior managers.

TMSSequoia Chairman Dana Allen stated, "We are pleased to have successfully recruited Bruce Shankle to fill the new position of Director of Advanced Technology and Bill Crone, who will serve as our Vice President, Marketing.

"Bruce is a former employee of TMSSequoia, and a cofounder of CodeMarine, Inc., a well-known COM (Microsoft's core technology) and Java training company, " Allen continued.

"Bruce brings excellent knowledge of cutting-edge software technologies and is well-known in the industry as the result of authoring several magazine cover story articles in Microsoft-related publications," said Allen. "In addition to being able to contribute to our product business, Bruce's visibility in the market should help bring Professional Services business to TMSSequoia.

"We are also pleased to welcome Bill Crone to our management team," Allen said. "Bill joins us following recent successful stints as Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Stingray Software, and at CodeMarine, Inc.," continued Allen. "Bill's efforts contributed significantly to Stingray's rapid growth. Stingray was able to increase its annualized revenues from $500,000 to $5,000,000 in the 18 months Mr. Crone was with the company. Stingray was acquired by Rogue Wave Software in February 1998. Bill also helped CodeMarine prosper as a start-up company, securing high-ticket, specialized training and consulting engagements with Microsoft, Unisys, Intuit, 3M and other major corporate customers.

"Bill's experience also includes marketing, sales and advertising management positions held at Reuters NewMedia, Inc., Software Spectrum, Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein, Inc., and Charles Crone Associates, Inc.," said Allen.

"Together, Bruce Shankle and Bill Crone bring us a great deal of experience, energy and enthusiasm," said Allen. "These traits will be important and valuable to us as we continue to focus our management efforts on significantly improving our results.

"Our efforts in this respect have included a re-casting of roles among several of our existing senior managers, as well," Allen explained. "We have put in place a new product selection function, which, by action of our Board of Directors, I will personally oversee in the role of Chairman, CEO and President."

Dana Allen was founder and CEO of Sequoia Data Corporation prior to its merger with TMS to form TMSSequoia. Sequoia Data, under Allen's management, achieved market leadership in the image enhancement market with the ScanFix(R) product line. Sequoia experienced 75% and 85% sales growth and 24% and 36% pre-tax profits respectively in each of his last two years of managing it.

"Art Crotzer, our most senior services manager," Allen continued, " will be focusing on improving results for our Professional Services Division as our new Senior Vice President, Professional Services."

"As for changes made to improve results in product sales, we have appointed Rick Scanlan, Vice President Internet Products," Allen said. " Rick has established a strong record managing product development and product sales for us. Prior to this appointment, Rick spearheaded the successful creation and launch of our Prizm Internet products.

"To improve our product engineering productivity and quality control we have promoted Coy Housman as our Director of Product Engineering. Coy has an excellent record at TMSSequoia and had 10 years of experience at Boeing before joining us.

"With these additions and changes, we believe we are better positioned to improve future financial and operating results," Allen concluded.
