Doren, I have my doubts regarding that article.

CR estimated that the 10-year maintenance cost of a Tesla is $4,035, but reports around the web say that maintenance costs for Tesla are higher because of non-standard parts and because of additional wear on tires due to the weight of the battery.

Here's one guy who calculated his 90K mile maintenance cost of his Tesla to be $5,441.42:

90,000 Miles On My Tesla Model 3 — Maintenance Costs Higher Than Expected (CleanTechnica)

Here's another guy who reports his 4 year 4 month maintenance cost to be $3,199.59:

2019 Tesla Model 3 Maintenance Costs at 41,110 Miles, 4 Years & 4 Months (CleanTechnica)

No matter what, I believe the maintenance costs of a Tesla are higher than what CR is reporting. This is based on the following:

- Tesla is still a "luxury" car.
- Non-standard parts and labor.
- More expensive tires.
- CR's record of left-wing political advocacy, which makes them skew their reports.

All this overcomes the theoretical reduction in maintenance costs due to "fewer moving parts," less brake wear, etc.
