The thing we should be focusing on is how best to rid iraq of al quaeda. Our presence itself is the magnet. I am struck by kumars experiences between shiaa and sunni in one family. Maybe its more like a marriage of catholic and protestant. A war between shiaa and sunni is not inevitable and realization that its al quaeda and some sunni-baath thugs trying to fan the fires may get it stopped. End US presence and let iraqis get real, the next common enemy they say may shift from us to the real bad guys. Again an oil deal and some autonomy for the sunnis in a one-state loose federation may do the trick. As long as we are there al quaeda will be there as well and the natives wont be joining us in the fight.
