It's a good point. But a couple of thoughts. 1) Corporate Profits / GDP have not been this high until at least 1971 (that's when my data set starts) so something unique may be going on. Secondly does a decrease in profits/gdp necessarily mean that profits will fall in absolute terms - at least in the foreseeable future? Third, let's remember that there is a huge Chindia labor pool that needs to be exhausted. The supply of labor appears to be elastic as far as the eye can see.
